BSI - BS 10305-5 Specification for welded cold sized steel tubes for automobile, mechanical and general engineering purposes - Specific requirements for cold sized Welded Square Tubes. cold sized welded tubing possesses a high strength-to-weight ratio and can be processed to provide a combination of desired characteristics: dimensional accuracy; good surface quality; excellent micro-structure uniformity; good machinability; and high tensile properties. It is also suited for such post-treatments as carburizing and heat treating.

10305-5 Welded Square Tubes Delivery Condition
Welded and coldsized+CR1 Normally not heat treated, but suitable for final annealing.
+CR2 Not intended for heat treatment after the welding and sizing process.
Annealed +A After the welding and sizing process the tubes are annealed in a controlled atmosphere.
Normalized +N After the welding and sizing process the tubes are normalized in a controlled atmosphere. This delivery condition can be reached via direct processing.
10305-5 Welded Square Tubes Surface Condition
The tubes shall be manufactured from steel strip by electric welding. The tubes shall not include welds used for joining lengths of flat rolled strip prior to forming the tube. The surface conditions S1 and S3 apply for the strip. The surface condition S2 and S4 can apply for the strip or the tube;the purchaser should, where necessary, indicate the required condition at the time of enquiry and order. The tubes shall be suitable for hot dip galvanizing.Possible surface conditions are:
-S1 (black);
-S2 (pickled);
-S3(cold rolled);
-S4 (coated to an agreed condition).

10305-5 Welded Square Tubes Packaging
Straight lengths of welded tubing can be individually sleeved in paper or plastic and/or packaged in our unique cardboard spacers to ensure no damage occurs during transit. Coiled welded tubes are horizontally packed using paper or cardboard separators to prevent tube-to-tube contact. All tubing is packed in either wooden crates lined with wax craft paper, tri-wall clay-coated reinforced cases, or standard cardboard boxes. Plastic end caps that prevent foreign material from getting inside the tubes are also available upon request.Other Services
